If you currently receive free/reduced lunch, then you qualify for a fee waiver for the SAT and ACT. This fee waiver will also allow to be eligible to receive up to four waivers for college application fees. Please see Mrs. Edwards for a fee waiver or reach out to her with concerns and/or questions. PSAT The PSAT is a standardized test offered by College Board as practice for the SAT. Students are encouraged to take it to see how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college. When taken during their Junior year, students can qualify for National Merit Scholarships. SAT The SAT is a standardized test primarily used for college admission purposes and is accepted by almost all U.S. colleges. Most often, Juniors take the SAT in the spring and Seniors in the fall. According to College Board, “SAT scores and high school GPA are a powerful combination. Used together, there’s nothing better at predicting potential college success”. The SAT is made up of four content areas - Reading, Writing and Language, Math and the optional SAT Essay. To register for the SAT students must go to sat.org and create a username and password. If you receive free or reduced lunch, you qualify for a SAT fee waiver. ACT (American College Test) All North Carolina Juniors take the ACT in the spring. This test is provided free of charge for North Carolina students. The ACT test measures what students have learned in their courses and measures their skills in English, Math, Science, Reading and Writing. The ACT is similar to the SAT in that it is also a college admissions test. Students choosing to take the ACT in addition to the spring timeframe must register and pay for the test at http://www.actstudent.org/ and create an account and password. If you receive free or reduced lunch, you qualify for a ACT fee waiver. |

Applications are due by December 15, 2020 The North Carolina Hispanic College Fund (NCHCF) is announcing an open call to all Hispanic/Latino students to submit an application for the 2021-2022 School Year Scholarship Awards Cycle. The NCHCF, established by the North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals (NCHSP) at Triangle Community Foundation, will be accepting applications now through December 15, 2020. This year applications will be available online. Applications must be received by 11:59 PM and supporting documents must arrive at the office by the deadline. If applications or supporting documents arrive after the deadline, they will not be accepted. The application can be found on the NCSHP website at https://www.thencshp.org/scholarships. The NCHCF awards annual scholarships worth between $500 and $2,500. Scholarship recipients are seniors and recent graduates of North Carolina high schools who are of Hispanic/Latino background. Recipients of an NC Hispanic College Fund scholarship must enroll or be enrolled in a degree or certificate program at a community college or a 2-year or 4-year college/university and be committed to public service and community development. The NC Hispanic College Fund was established in 2004 at Triangle Community Foundation. Since its creation, NCSHP has awarded $581,750 to 427 Hispanic students in North Carolina. Financial barriers are among the most significant challenges that Hispanic/Latino students face when pursuing higher education. NCSHP’s goal is to help students overcome these barriers and empower them to accomplish their educational goals. Selection Criteria

North Carolina State University Raleigh,NC Scholarships are funded by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) and by each of the 10 colleges of NC State University. In addition, the university is privileged to offer distinctive programs, such as the Park and Caldwell Scholarships. We also accept scholarships from other organizations and foundations. Park Scholarship Program – Prestigious, competitive academic scholarship program for students who demonstrated exceptional academic ability, potential in leadership and service, and exemplary character. General Hugh Shelton Leadership Initiative Scholarship – Competitive academic scholarship program to promote the mission of the Shelton initiative, “to inspire, educate and develop value-based leaders committed to personal integrity, professional ethics and selfless service.” Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship Program for students who demonstrated leadership potential, academic achievement, personal talents, unique work or service experience, and financial need. Applicants should demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of diversity. Goodnight Scholars Program – The Goodnight Scholars Program is a unique scholarship for outstanding students in the STEM and education disciplines. It is available to students from low- and middle-income North Carolina families, and is valued at $20,500 per year for up to four years.
